Her Story
The Diagnosis
Dorito was diagnosed with ocular FIP (feline infectious peritonitis), a virus that caused severe inflammation in her eyes. The inflammation blocked fluid drainage, increasing pressure to the point of glaucoma.
The Battle
Because kittens have a stretchy sclera, even moderate pressure can cause the eyes to enlarge quickly. That pressure led to Dorito's now signature wide-eyed look that stunned social media users.
The Recovery
With antiviral treatment and intensive eye care, the glaucoma has resolved, her corneal ulcers have healed, and her eye pressure is now stable. She's no longer in pain and is thriving.
Today
Now fully healthy, Dorito has been left with a distinctive appearance that has captured attention online. She has found her forever home and continues to inspire with her story of survival.
